Texas Beachgoers Encounter Shark on Independence Day

Four People Attacked in Rare Incident

South Padre Island, Texas

Four people were attacked by a shark while swimming off the coast of South Padre Island on the Fourth of July holiday. The incident, which occurred around 11 am on Thursday, is the first reported shark attack in the area in over a decade.

According to police, the victims were swimming in shallow water when they were suddenly attacked by the shark. Two of the victims, a man and a woman, were bitten on the legs. The other two victims, both men, suffered lacerations to their arms and torso.

All four victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police are investigating the incident and have closed the beach to swimming until further notice. A team of marine biologists has been called in to help identify the type of shark responsible for the attack.

This is the first reported shark attack in Texas since 2013. In that incident, a swimmer was bitten on the leg off the coast of Galveston.

Conclusion: The shark attack on South Padre Island is a reminder that even though shark attacks are rare, they can happen anywhere, at any time. It is important to be aware of your surroundings when swimming in the ocean and to take precautions to avoid becoming a victim.
